Currently serving on the Executive Board of Athens Regional Hospital, Dr. Sheffield founded ENToA in 1973. After receiving his undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi in 1962, he earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee in 1965. After completing his phil-headshot[1]internship in 1966, Dr. Sheffield joined the United States Air Force and was basaed in Japan for two years. When he returned to the United States in 1969, he began a one year general surgery internship at Emory and Grady Hospitals in Atlanta, Georgia, followed by a three year residency in otolaryngology and head and neck surgery. Upon graduating from this residency program in 1973, Dr. Sheffield moved to Athens, Georgia and opened his own ENT practice, which has grown successfully for over forty years
